These Easy BBQ Pork Sliders are the perfect addition to your next backyard bbq, family dinners, or at a game day tailgate party during football season. Make this crowd-pleaser on game day and have them coming back for more!

Perfect way to use up leftover pulled pork. These little sandwiches are delicious served as an easy meal, a side dish, or as an appetizer. An easy slow cooked favorite.

This was inspired by our Perfect Shredded Pork Recipe, for fork tender pork butt or pork shoulder, and made in the oven or crock pot. Tender & juicy slow roasted BBQ pork with a tangy barbecue sauce. Made with just 15 minutes of prep time and about 6 hours wait for slow cooked BBQ perfection.

And it goes well with some creamy coleslaw or a cool glass of Non Alcoholic Christmas Punch that's good any time of the year. Be sure to check out our other tasty side dishes.

    Here's What You Need

Individual Ingredients for Pulled Pork Sliders Recipe.

    Notes on Ingredients

    • Hawaiian rolls - 12 slider rolls.

Substitution Suggestion: They are traditionally served on slider buns like Hawaiian rolls (Hawaiian Buns). But they are delicious on brioche buns, and dinner rolls, too.
    • shredded pork - We like to use leftover pork made with our Perfect Shredded Pork. Made by slow cooking pork shoulder or pork butt for 6-8 hours to slow roasted bbq perfection.
    • bbq sauce - Use your favorite barbecue sauce. Purchase some from the local grocery store or make your own homemade bbq sauce. We use Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce.
    • pepper jack cheese - We use sliced cheese. However, shredded cheese works, too.

Substitution Suggestion: May substitute another cheese like cheddar, pepper jack, Colby jack, or Chihuahua Cheese.
    • butter - Salted butter is the tastiest. May substitute unsalted butter.
    • dijon mustard - optional. Adds tangy flavor to the butter.
    • garlic salt

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    Variations

Here are some other slider recipe variations to consider:

    • Ham & Cheese Sliders - Ham and Swiss cheese topped with a tangy dijon mustard, butter sauce.
    • Cheese Burger Sliders - Mini cheeseburgers topped with American cheese, ketchup, mustard, and dill pickles.
    • Sloppy Joe Sliders - A saucy meat with a little spice, and pepper jack cheese.
    • Roast Beef Sliders - Roast beef, provolone cheese, and horseradish sauce.
    • Cuban Sliders - Layered pork roast, ham, Swiss cheese, yellow mustard, and dill pickles.
    • Turkey Sliders - Made with roast turkey, provolone cheese, dressing or stuffing, and cranberry sauce.

    How to Make Sliders

    Preheat Oven To 350°F.

    1. Prepare The Meat. Mix together shredded pork and barbecue sauce in a large bowl.

Reheat in the microwave at 30 second increments until warmed through.
    1. Prepare The Slider Buns. Place the slider rolls on a cutting board and use a serrated knife to slice through them, keeping all the rolls connected and creating a top and a bottom half.

    1. Layer The Mini Sandwiches.

Place the bottom half on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.

Line the bottom buns with 6 slices of cheese.

BBQ layer for Pulled Pork Sliders Recipe.

Spread the reheated shredded bbq pork out evenly over the top of the cheese.

Add 6 more slices of cheese over the top of the meat.

A pan full of Pulled Pork Sliders.

And then place the top half of the slider rolls on top.

    1. Brush On Butter and Add Seasoning. Melt butter mixed with a little dijon mustard in a small bowl and brush it on top of the slider buns with a pastry brush.

      Sprinkle garlic salt on top.
    1. Cover and Bake. Cover the sliders with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes until cheese has melted.
    1. Serve and Enjoy. Serve them warm with your favorite toppings and easy side dishes.

    Pro Tips

    • Use Slices or Grate Your Own Cheese - Cheese that has been hand shredded melts better than store-bought shredded cheese. Store-bought shredded cheese contains preservatives to keep the cheese from sticking together in the bag and prevent the cheese from melting together smoothly.
    • Add Extra Seasonings - Add your own favorite seasonings or spice rub. We love to use our favorite dry rub to add a little extra smokey flavor.
    • Brush On Butter - Use A Pastry Brush to brush on the melted butter evenly.

    Recipe FAQS

What are the best buns for sliders?

Sliders are traditionally served on slider buns like Hawaiian rolls (Hawaiian Buns). But they are delicious on brioche buns, and dinner rolls, too.

    How many sliders per person?

Determining how many sliders to serve per person depends on if the sliders will be served as a main dish or a side dish.

Main Dish - If sliders will be the main dish served, plan for 2-3 sliders per person.

Side Dish - Plan on 1 slider per person if sliders will be served as a side dish.

Can sliders be made ahead of time?

    Make ahead options:

Make the meat ahead of time and keep it warm in a crock pot until you're ready to assemble and bake the sliders.

Assemble sliders up to 3-4 days ahead of time. Bake them just before you are ready to serve them.

How to keep sliders from getting soggy?

Prevent sliders from getting soggy by baking the sliders uncovered to prevent them from steaming.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve them hot, right out of the oven, while the cheese is melted and the sweet pulled pork is tender and delicious.
