    How To Reheat Cinnamon Rolls

Freshly baked old fashioned cinnamon rolls in a baking dish.

    Notes on Ingredients

    • leftover cinnamon rolls or cinnamon buns - Use homemade or any of the different brands of store-bought cinnamon rolls available at your local grocery store, or in coffee shops. Brands like Pillsbury and Cinnabon are known for them. So good!
    • water - Water is necessary for hydration when reheating leftovers. Adding a little water will soften and rehydrate a hard cinnamon roll.
    • butter - Adding a bit of butter will soften stale rolls that have been around for a couple of days.

    Equipment

    • baking tray - if using the oven.
    • microwave-safe plate or baking dish - if using the microwave oven.
    • damp paper towel - use to keep rolls moist in the microwave.
    • air fryer
    • parchment paper - or aluminum foil - if using the air fryer.
    • cooking spray - for use in the bottom of the air fryer if you don't want to use parchment paper or aluminum foil.

    In The Oven

It's easy to reheat leftover rolls in a conventional oven and it is the best way to reheat a whole batch of cinnamon rolls.

A baking dish full of leftover cinnamon rolls with aluminum foil cover lifted up from corner.

    Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Place the rolls in a baking dish.

Add a little dribble of water (1 teaspoon per roll) over each roll to rehydrate the rolls as they are reheated.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. This will create steam as they warm and will rehydrate the rolls. This will make sure they are soft and delicious.

Reheat for 10-15 minutes. Pull them out of the oven and enjoy a warm cinnamon roll.

    In An Air Fryer

Reheating them the next day doesn't take much time at all in the air fryer. It takes just a few minutes following these few simple steps.

Be sure to check out our recipe for the best air fryer cinnamon rolls. They're so gooey and delicious you might not have any leftovers to reheat!

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F. Place them in a parchment paper liner and place in the air fryer basket and close the door.

Alternatively, wrap them in aluminum foil instead of using parchment paper.

Using the "reheat" setting, reheat them at 350°F for 2 minutes.

    In The Microwave

Reheating them in the microwave is the absolute fastest way and easiest reheating method.

Place the rolls in a microwave-safe dish or plate. Cover the rolls with a moist paper towel.

Individual Roll - Reheat an for 20-25 seconds.

Multiple Rolls - Reheat in 30 second increments until warmed through.

    Pro Tips

    • Store Leftover Cinnamon Rolls Properly - Cover leftovers with aluminum foil, plastic wrap, or store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh and give them a longer self life.
    • Add Moisture - Add a tablespoon of water or melted butter. The added moisture prevents foods from drying out when being reheated.

Whole pan - Add ¼ cup of water if reheating an entire pan of rolls.

Individual Cinnamon Roll - Add a teaspoon of water over the top before reheating.
    • Cover - Cover the rolls with aluminum foil (oven), or damp paper towel (microwave) so that steam is trapped surrounding the rolls as they reheat. This will keep the rolls soft and prevent them from drying out.
    • Room Temperature - For best results, bring leftover rolls up to room temperature before reheating them. They will require less cooking time and will be less likely to dry out as a result.
