    Why You'll Love This Recipe

This Easy White Queso is the perfect dip to serve for taco night, Cinco de Mayo, family gatherings, or for a quick midnight snack. It's so good! Looking for more party dips? Be sure to check out our other cheese dip recipes and appetizers like our Chili Cheese Dip, Guacamole, and Spinach Artichoke Dip.

    Here's What You Need

You need just a few simple ingredients to make this cheesy party dip. We like to keep them on hand for that last minute appetizer win.

    • 9 slices Pepper Jack Cheese - 9 ounces
    • 6 slices White American Cheese - 6 ounces
    • 1 tablespoon salted butter
    • 4 oz cream cheese
    • 4 oz half & half

Pepper Jack Cheese - Buy sliced cheese and cut it up into cubes. It'll melt quickly. Pepper Jack adds just the right amount of spice for a mild queso.

White American Cheese - You'll usually find this at the deli counter at the grocery store.

Half & Half - May substitute heavy cream or whole milk.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Pro Tip For A Smooth Sauce

The trick to making smooth and creamy cheese sauce is don't let it boil or get too hot. Cheese sauce ingredients must be melted slowly and stirred frequently so that the sauce doesn't break and become grainy.

For best results, microwave this white queso in 30-60 second increments, stirring after each increment until the cheese is melted into a smooth dip.

    Queso Add-Ins

This Queso is super easy to make and so versatile.

There are endless add-ins and appetizer variations you can make, and so many ways to use this cheesy queso in other dishes. Once you learn the basic cheese sauce, the possibilities are endless.

Spice up the basic queso recipe. This is your chance to get creative with these tasty add-ins!

    • spicy salsa or Pico de Gallo
    • cayenne pepper
    • minced jalapeno peppers
    • pickled jalapenos
    • canned mild diced green chiles
    • Rotel Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies
    • sauteed chorizo

    Queso For Two

Sometimes you just need a little nibble.

    • 3 slices Pepper Jack Cheese
    • 2 slices White American Cheese
    • 1 teaspoon Salted Butter
    • splash of Whole Milk, or Half and Half

Place diced cheese, butter, and cream in a little dish and microwave for 30 seconds. Give it a good stir. It should be almost done. Microwave it for another 15 seconds and stir till smooth and you're good to go!

Pro Tip: Use the servings slider on the recipe card below to adjust the ingredient amounts so that you can make just the right amount of queso for two or to make enough queso for a crowd.
