Reader Review: Deborah says, "Excellent recipe. Thoroughly enjoyed without the mayo!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Make this easy recipe two different ways: Oven-Baked or in a Crock Pot. Instructions for both cooking methods are provided below.

Serve it with tortilla chips, pita chips, toasted crostini, or your favorite crackers. It's so good!

    Here's What You Need

Individual Ingredients for Spinach Artichoke Dip Without Mayo.

This appetizer recipe is super easy to make with just a few simple ingredients.

    • cream cheese - Room temperature.
    • sour cream - May substitute Greek yogurt.
    • shredded mozzarella - May substitute different types of cheeses like Chihuahua, or asiago cheese.
    • grated parmesan cheese
    • artichoke hearts - Drained and chopped. Don't have artichokes? That's ok, leave them out and make a basic spinach dip recipe instead. It'll still be super tasty.
    • Jalapeños - Canned, drained and diced. Hot diced jalapeños are always a hit. But mild are tasty, too. May substitute mild diced green chilis, red pepper flakes (cayenne pepper), or a few shakes of hot sauce.
    • frozen spinach - Thawed and drained. May substitute fresh spinach.
    • garlic powder - May substitute 1 clove of fresh minced garlic.
    • onion powder - Optional.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    Variations

    • Add a protein - like shredded chicken, crab, chopped shrimp.
    • Make it spicy - add chopped red bell pepper, fresh chopped chili peppers, or salsa.

    Helpful Tips

Make It With Fresh Spinach - Fresh ingredients are always more flavorful. Substitute fresh instead of frozen spinach and fresh minced garlic instead of garlic powder.

Sauté minced garlic in a little olive oil over medium heat. Add 4 cups of fresh chopped spinach and a squeeze of lemon juice. Once the spinach has wilted, drain out the excess liquid by squeezing the cooked spinach in some paper towels.

Freeze it in an airtight container for up to six months. Bring to room temperature before reheating.

Keep It Warm - The best way to keep it warm at parties is in a crock pot. Then, the cheese will remain loose and ready for that perfect cheese pull when you dip into it.
